Westin Hotel at Lincoln Square, Bellevue, Washington
This hotel contains 502 rooms in a cost-effective, cast-in-place concrete structure with excellent sound attenuation features and optimum views. It also contains conference rooms, a ballroom, an indoor swimming pool, health club, spa facilities, and numerous restaurants.
Alyeska Prince Resort, Girdwood, Alaska
This 10-story concrete tower has 307 rooms and suites. ABKJ’s structural design also included new upper and lower tram terminals for a 60 passenger aerial tram system, plus tram tower snow deflector walls. The lateral force resisting system design is provided by a combination of chevron steel bracing and special moment-resisting space frames.
Fairmont Olympic Renovation, Seattle, Washington
ABKJ updated this 1920s historic hotel to meet current seismic codes. ABKJ’s “dry system” maintained the hotel’s structural integrity and historical aesthetic appearance by avoiding exposed brick anchors on the exterior of the building. This system saved the owner $4 million and months of construction time.
Hotel Captain Cook, Anchorage, Alaska
This 450-room luxury hotel was designed on a fast-track schedule. It consists of a 15-story, 109,000 sf tower and an 18-story, 145,000 sf tower. Precast floor slabs were placed after the steel framing for each floor was erected, providing a working platform and storage space for future non-structural items. This procedure allowed construction to continue year-round, rather than experiencing standard winter shutdown.
Hotel Terra, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
This 7-story, 72-room eco-hotel is located in a high seismic zone with heavy snow loads. This was the first in a collection of green hotels launched by the Terra Resort Group utilizing environmentally sustainable building and operating practices. The project is certified LEED® Silver.
HYATT House at Riverpark (formerly Hotel Sierra), Redmond, Washington
This 144-room hotel is part of the Riverpark mixed-use project. It includes 2,085 sf of venue space that can be split into two or three sections for corporate events or private parties.
Morning Eagle Lodge, Whitefish, Montana
This 6-story, 100,000 sf resort is built over an underground parking garage. The ground floor contains 12,000 sf of retail space, a grand lobby, and mechanical space. The hotel/condominium contains 49 units configured in four stories of approximately 16,000 sf each above the retail level.
Sheraton Calista, Anchorage, Alaska
This 17-story, 287,000 sf L-shaped structure was framed in structural steel to allow construction through the winter months. An innovation developed for this project was the on-site precasting of end-wall stair towers as story-high boxes. After erection, the boxes were post-tensioned full height from the top.
White Pine Lodge at Schweitzer Resort, Sandpoint, Idaho
This 7-story, 80,000 sf project has two levels of below-grade parking, a 14,000 sf retail level at grade, and four levels of housing above. Structural steel roof trusses support the local 340 psf ground snow loads.
