ABKJ Project Wins National Design Award
The MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital Patient Care Tower in Puyallup, Washington was awarded the 2013 Vista Award for New Construction by the American Society for Hospital Engineering (ASHE). The award is presented annually to an organization that has constructed a new medical facility from the ground up.
ABKJ was part of the Good Samartian Design Collaborative team that designed the tower. ABKJ provided civil and structural design services.

West Thomas Street Overpass Dedication Ceremony
ABKJ's newest pedestrian bridge project will have its grand opening at a dedication ceremony on Sunday, November 18 at 2:00pm. The ceremony will take place on 3rd Avenue West in downtown Seattle between West Thomas Street and West Harrison Street.
ABKJ Announces Promotions
ABKJ has promoted Sanjay Soli to Principal of its Seattle office and Managing Director of its Asia office, Greg Lee to Principal, Peter Krebs to Principal, and Erik Pearson to Associate.
Soli manages ABKJ’s Asia Global Center, focusing on marketing the firm’s design and engineering services to the Asian market. Lee is a project manager in Seattle and leads the Asian engineering design team. They are currently working on residential, commercial, and healthcare projects in India.
Krebs and Pearson work in the Seattle office building department. Krebs has been with ABKJ since 1996 and is a project manager whose projects include the Riverpark Mixed-Use Facility in Redmond and the Skagit Valley Hospital Expansion in Mount Vernon. Pearson has been with ABKJ since 2003 and is a project manager and project engineer whose projects include the Overlake Medical Center South Tower and the Lincoln Square Mixed-Use Facility, both in Bellevue.
ABKJ Project Achieves LEED Gold Certification
The University of Washington Savery Hall Upgrade project has been awarded a LEED-NC v2.1 Gold rating in the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - New Construction and Major Renovation (LEED-NC) green building rating program.

ABKJ Bridge Design Wins National Award
ABKJ’s Mount Si Bridge Replacement project was named the best medium-span steel bridge in the nation in the 2009 National Steel Bridge Alliance Awards. The honor was announced at the World Steel Bridge Symposium in San Antonio, Texas.
The Mount Si Bridge serves as a vital link across the Snoqualmie River for local residents and as a gateway to regional outdoor activities within the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area. This $10 million structure replaced a deteriorating bridge that was more than 90 years old. The new bridge utilizes 406 tons of steel and is 240’ long with an average width of 43’.Read Article
ABKJ Wins GREEN OFFICE Award
ABKJ’s downtown Seattle office has been recognized for its sustainability efforts, earning the GREEN OFFICE Award from Hines Properties.
ABKJ’s sustainability achievements include:
•Composting and recycling more than 50% of our waste
•Converting all employees to LCD flat screen monitors
•Using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified copy paper
•Using flatware made from cornstarch, which biodegrades in 60 days
•Using bottleless water coolers to provide filtered municipal water
•Installing low-flow aerators on kitchen sink faucets
•Purchasing fair trade coffee brands
•More than 25% of ABKJ employees use mass transit to commute
Hines GREEN OFFICE (HinesGO) is a voluntary, internal program created to measure and reward sustainability within all Hines offices worldwide.
ABKJ Wins Top WACA Award
ABKJ’s Microsoft West Campus Garage 98 project was awarded the top prize for cast-in-place parking garages at the 2009 Excellence in Concrete Constuction Awards presented by the Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association (WACA).
At 1.6 million square feet, the project is the second-largest underground parking garage in the United States. It contains 4 levels of parking with 4,637 spaces.
ABKJ engineers Narong Trongtham, Bharat Soli, Greg Lee, and Erik Pearson were on hand to accept the award.
ABKJ Recognized for BIM Solutions
ABKJ and its Good Samaritan Hospital expansion project were recognized by Autodesk for Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions.Read Article

ABKJ provided structural design services for the Tanasbourne Medical Office Building, which was recently named the Best Oregon Healthcare Project of 2008 by Northwest Construction Magazine.
